The director of the Institute of Youth in the Region of Murcia, Veronica Lopez, accompanied by the mayor of Santomera, José María Sánchez and the councilman of Youth, Victor Martinez, participated today in the race solidarity for Haiti, a meeting organized by the youth of education program participation 'Nueve.e' to raise funds that will go to Red Cross for the reconstruction of Haiti.
To assist with this initiative, the riders donated one euro for each lap walked a short circuit installed in the center of town.
The race, only one kilometer of travel, was performed from 10:00 to 14:00 hours.
Lopez said that "this campaign is twofold, young people and learn to organize and implement their own activities have a significant charitable work."
This activity has been proposed and organized by project 'Nueve.e' Santomera, in collaboration with the City Council of the municipality and the IES Julián Andugar.
The 'Nueve.e' Institute for Youth, whose main objective is to bring young people to the decision-making processes that participants organize and promote their own activities, including projects related to community interest.
