Statement sent by PSOE:
Santomera the PSOE wants to show that the contract extension was not an arbitrary act.
For this occasion we had a favorable report from the municipal officers, Secretary and Auditor, who supported the decision, both legally and economically.
At the time of carrying out the contract extension was a common practice in the municipalities of the Region.
Consistories twelve, almost all of PP (such as San Pedro del Pinatar Fortuna), acted the same way and these contracts remain in force.
In Santomera, ruling the PP, in the period 1995 - 1999, and there was an automatic extension of this contract for 5 years, not be terminated before completion.
Ruling and the PSOE, to negotiate in an advantageous position, the former mayor, José Antonio Gil, denounced the previous contract a year before its implementation, thereby preventing its automatic extension.
Was negotiated with AQUALIA and AQUAGEST, a company that manages the water supply in other cities of Murcia, as Abanilla or Murcia.
AQUALIA conditions were much more favorable.
Both companies offered a similar amount in monthly fees: 500 million and 525 million pesetas AQUAGEST AQUALIA.
What were the rates varied substantially, much more advantageous to AQUALIA (see attached comparison chart.)
Of these 525 million pesetas that the City had to receive in monthly fees, 400 million received food distributed in the first three years.
These 400 million pesetas were invested in work we enjoy all santomeranos and santomeranas: municipal pool deck, remodeling of squares and parks, etc.
The PP Santomera, unlike what the opposition did in the other municipalities in the region who chose this formula, opposed by filing the relevant claims.
The reason was purely electioneering: the socialist government team received a significant amount of money to carry out actions in the municipality.
Since the PSOE Santomera denounce the irresponsible attitude of the PP will lead to more costly water service, moving to the city in the form of higher rates, as will happen with the garbage service.
Attached comparison chart between what we pay to AQUALIA and what they pay the municipalities of Murcia and Abanilla with AQUAGEST:
