More than 250 people, including neighbors, local authorities, journalists and dozens of athletes in particular, packed the auditorium to witness the most important event of the year for local sports, the Sports Gala VIII Santomera 2009, he returned under a new format designed by the Department of Sport which ultimately proved far more agile than in previous years.
The gala was preceded by a roundtable on handball which was attended by three players BM Torrevieja, as Eduardo Gurbindo, David Cuartero and Albert Vall, who accompanied by a whole history of this sport as Paco Parrilla international selection Spanish and former Atletico Madrid, took care to talk about the current situation in handball in Spain.
In regard to the new format of the show highlights the drastic reduction in the number of awards to be given, only 7 against the 43 other issues not to mention the videos they remembered the deeds of the seven sports awards at an evening entertainment by live music of the Penta Brass and the presence of two sponsors of emergency: the Olympian, Juan Manuel Molina and CB Murcia player, Jose Antonio Marco Gaona.
"We needed to put a spin on the Sports Gala, a more professional look to raise the level of demand for our athletes," he noted the Councillor for Sports, Luis Quiñonero, as the main reason to radically change the format of this annual event in the sport.
During the ceremony, with the aim of promoting sport among children and adolescents in the municipality, the council gave three blocks of opening a special awards for most outstanding female athlete of the year, "despite having reduced the number of awards we do not we forget the smaller ones because they are the future of the sport of Santomera "said the Councillor for Sports, Luis Quiñonero.
