Backed by over 100 illustrations submitted from countries as diverse as the Netherlands, Romania, China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Colombia, Brazil and of course Spain, returned to the municipal santomerano the IV International Graphic Humor Contest 'Santomera 2009', organized one year more by the Department of Equality and Immigration.
With the aim of trying to overcome the participation figures recorded during the last edition, the council has increased not only the amount of prize money from 1800 euros to 2100 euros, and has also built a special award for 'Best Work of Murcia ', to reward the participation of Murcia cartoonists.
"Despite the crisis the council has made an effort to improve the value of prizes, this competition walks Santomera name worldwide," says the mayor and Immigration Equality, María Dolores Abellán.
The immigration office in Casa Grande will support all the entries sent before 14 pm on March 13, in both 30x42 cm unframed and in digital format, always presented with the author's signature to confirm they are original, plus the organization has set up a blog for questions through the network: humor, graphic-santomera.blogspot.com
This year, the theme of the contest will focus on immigration and the enrichment that comes from living with other ethnic and religious cultures, and from there anything goes in previous editions, the irony, sarcasm and scathing criticism always chaired by the good humor and the different techniques used by cartoonists and drawing fans who wish to participate in the competition with a maximum of two works.
On 26 March, the jury will announce the name of the first prize winners at Euro 1000, a second 700, plus two runners equipped with 200 euros, without neglecting the award for best regional figure with another 200 euros; After the verdict all the works will be exhibited in the halls of Casa Grande from 1 to 30 April.
