The Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Sotoca Constantine, along with the mayor of Santomera, José María Sánchez, today laid the foundation stone of the second Secondary School in the municipality, which represents an investment of 4.6 billion euros will have a capacity to house 360 students.
Sotoca indicated that this new institute will have 12 units of secondary and will relieve the Poet Andugar IES, which is the only secondary school in the city currently available.
At the same time, said: "This is an investment that will allow to improve the quality of education in the municipality and, therefore, a compromise that we can not resign, despite the difficult economic situation."
The building will have two modules, two floors each, and a sports hall, in the form to be distributed 12 units of high school, more offices, toilets, and other multipurpose rooms.
Module B will house a library, cafeteria, warehouse and several multipurpose classrooms, workshops, computer room and an art classroom.
The center, which is accessible to disabled motors, will run for the academic year 2012-2013.
Other investments
The minister recalled that the Regional Administration has built 25 new schools and 70 additions in the current term and stressed that "the budgets of 2011 will become the second region to greater investments in education."
Specifically, in the municipality have been made as the various reforms undertaken in the IES 'Poet Julian Andugar', the expansion of three classrooms in the school 'Mother Hope', a dining room 'Gaya' or replacement of roofs and a new pavilion at school 'Campoazahar'.
