The new Youth Space Santomera, which will concentrate all municipal youth services, will serve more than 3,000 local youths.
The Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, accompanied by the mayor of Santomera Artés José María Sánchez, today inaugurated the new premises, in which the autonomous region has invested 200,000 euros, used both for construction and for equipment .
In the building units have been installed in the Youth Council and the Office Informajoven and Youth Emancipation, from which services are provided Youth Employment and Housing.
This new Youth Space has 256 sq meters, located on two floors.
On the ground floor are located direct services to young people, while the upper floor rooms have been set up training workshops for youth and a multipurpose room.
In addition, the space is designed to simulate a checkerboard, which may be used to open air workshops.
The building was erected on a plot of 1,000 square meters, municipal property, in front of the Gaya College of the resort, reserved for serving youth Santomera, since, in the future, is planning to build a second building for to accommodate the youth associations and organizations of the municipality and areas of artistic and test for local groups.
The action developed in Santomera is part of a policy to improve the quality of youth facilities and infrastructure and thus provide more and better services to this sector of the population.
The regional government has invested in the past three years over 4.5 million euros in the construction, renovation and equipping of local youth forums in the Region of Murcia.
This year, the Department of Youth has budgeted 1.9 million euros to continue this line of support to municipalities and implement new youth spaces in various towns in the region.
