So it sounded the famous advertising song that announced the return of nougat and, above all, family and friends on these dates so indicated.
They are joined this year by some very illustrious residents of Santomera, the green roses, who also come home for Christmas.
The councilman of Employment, Víctor Egío, has staged that return with the symbolic delivery to the mayor of the municipality, Inma Sánchez Roca, two copies of these exotic roses, which are now held by the City Council thanks to the efforts he has led.
The intention of the government team is that the green roses, which once adorned with their presence the gardens of the Casa del Huerto, look over time in all the gardens of the municipality.
The green roses represent a strange genetic mutation, without petals, sterile and peppery.
His relationship with Santomera dates back at least to a century and a half: according to documentary evidence, Juan Murcia and Rebagliatto presented them at the Exhibition of Plants, Flowers and Birds of the Buen Retiro Garden held in Madrid in 1880. It is believed that this relationship may be even older, going back to the Universal Exposition of Paris in 1855, although that point has not yet been established.
From then until today, the specimens were passed on to the descendants of Juan Murcia and later to the foreman of the family, Manuel García Peña, who still have them today.
"This is news that should make us all happy, green roses are a heritage of this town and it is the people who will now be able to enjoy them every day," said Egío.
The mayor has also been congratulated by the news and has shown his "happiness that the green roses will soon return to beautify the garden where they began their journey in our town, almost a century and a half, next to the House of the Garden, whose rehabilitation He faces his final stretch. "
