The municipality welcomes for the third consecutive year the Regional Tennis Championship, from November 25 to December 3

For the third consecutive year, Santomera will become for a week in the Murcian capital of the racket thanks to the XXVI Regional Tennis Championship, which will be played from this Saturday until December 3 at the Municipal Sports Center.

The public arena will once again become the venue for the most important tournament organized by the Tennis Federation of the Region of Murcia, which was held two years ago at the El Limonar Tennis Club.

The tournament, which puts 1,800 euros in cash and, more importantly, the prestige of proclaiming itself the best tennis player in the Region, will have thirty participants divided between the male (22) and the female (8) absolute categories.

They include "the best rackets of the moment in the Region and also their biggest promises," as explained during the presentation Manuel Frutos, Tennis Club El Limonar, organizer with the Federation and the City of Santomera.

Proof of this is that the champion of the last two editions, Jesús García, as well as the current champion and runner-up, Alba Rey and Alba Pedrero, respectively, and "several players that we will see very high in the future" will repeat in the competition. .

In this last chapter the presence of Carlos Alcaraz, champion of children's Spain, runner-up cadet and recent winner sub-14 of the Masters Cup in London.

"This is the most important tournament the Federation has", confirmed its president, José Alcolea, "and we enjoy the greatest tranquility going hand in hand with the El Limonar Tennis Club and Santomera City Council, as we have a history of having achieved a huge success the last two years ".

"We have very good players who will offer us magnificent matches, with an important tennis quality", added Alcolea, who also highlighted the projection and presence in Santomera of Carlos Alcaraz.

For its part, both the mayor of Santomera, Inma Sanchez Roca, and the Councilor for Sports, Javier Campillo, took the opportunity to thank the "excellent work" that has been carried out by the Tennis Club El Limonar and the confidence placed by the Federation of Tennis of the Region of Murcia.

"Over the next few days, many families will visit our town and the magnificent facilities we have, and they can get to know us a little better, which is always positive, even more so if it is related to something as friendly as sports", said the mayor .

Campillo, who closed the turn of interventions before giving way to the drawing of the draw of the tournament, encouraged to go to the Municipal Sports Center all tennis fans ["Without doubt, enjoy a great show," he said], and especially the neighbors of the municipality, who will be able to clothe the six santomeranos present in this championship.
