ARIMESA workers are mobilized in front of the Santomera City Council because the socialist mayor intends to force the company to close when the definitive activity license is being processed (13/11/2017)

Employees resume protests because the future of the 51 families is at stake, according to mine engineer and spokesperson Francisco José Palazón

For the workers, the Socialists and Podemos -Alternativa por Santomera- who hold the mayoralty and municipal power in a coalition, are skirting the prevarication by delaying the deadlines to grant the certificate that enables the activity

The workers of ARIMESA have returned to concentrate today next to the City council of Santomera governed by the PSOE and We can (Alternative by Santomera) before the new threat of closing received in the company in which they work 51 employees on which depend their families.

For these people it is an unfair order that puts their future and that of their children at risk knowing that the license is being processed.

From the Consistory they intend to close the company delaying the deadlines for not granting the license.

Francisco José Palazón, mining engineer and spokesperson for the employees, assures that, to date, all current legislation is complied with and the last environmental permit is expected as required by the Autonomous Community competent in this matter.

For the workers, it is a negligent attitude of the Socialists and Podemos, who hold the mayoralty and municipal power in coalition and maintain the uncertainty of the future of the company.

BETRAYAL TO SOCIALIST JULIÁN ANDUGAR

The employees of ARIMESA, who fear ending up unemployed, accuse the mayor, Inma Sánchez, of betraying the will of Santomera's old socialist, Julián Andugar, whose image presides over the entrance to the Consistory on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.

The workers are planning to continue the actions because their livelihood and that of their 51 families is at stake, according to the mine engineer and spokesperson, Francisco José Palazón.

SILENCE OF THE MAYOR AND LAW

The employees are outraged with the PSOE mayor, Inmaculada Sánchez Roca, because she does not receive them and "looks at them over her shoulder," according to the workers.

The company has been awaiting municipal certification for months after receiving all positive reports from the departments of the Autonomous Community to continue production.

According to the operators, nothing prevents the company from complying with the current legislation except for the unjustified delay of the municipality's license.

The employees of ARIMESA assure that the mayor of the PSOE, Inma Sánchez Roca, persists in her negligent attitude without justifying the ultimate goal of her action.

He abandons his obligations as mayor and lets Alternativa for Santomera make spurious decisions against the workers.

They do not rule out initiating legal actions together with the company since both she and her government partners, Alternativa por Santomera, maintain an attitude close to crime.

Alternative by Santomera amalgamates different groups, such as Izquierda Unida, Equo and Movimiento por Santomera.

Desperate situation of workers

The employees, whose number exceeds fifty, like the workers of the subsidiary companies that exceed 200, assure that they will go for all in the maintenance of their jobs "because it is a just claim that does not harm anyone and brings wealth to the municipality and their families, "says Palazón.

He adds: "These political parties that govern Santomera in coalition have insisted on ending our lives when they know that the City Council is in an absurd attitude and with criminal overtones."

The company is open, and in continuous activity, since 1974 in the same facilities.

At present, ARIMESA employs a total of 51 direct operators, since four contracts have been extended.

200 indirect jobs are also at stake.

The production quality standards are certified by all official bodies.
