Thirteen months and seventeen stages later, forty hikers have put this morning the final point to the Great Route of the Segura, a pioneering initiative of the Mountaineer Club El Quijar de la Vieja, in collaboration with the Department of Sports of Santomera City Council, Completely on foot the 325 kilometers that separate the birth and the mouth of the river Segura.
The adventure began on April 16 last year in Fuente Segura (Santiago-Potones, Jaén) and ended at noon today in Guardamar (Alicante), after leaving the group from Benejúzar.
The Great Route of the Segura has managed to attract the attention of more than a hundred different people and in each stage has counted, on average, with the participation of about fifty amateurs to the trekking.
Some of them have managed to complete all the stretches, conserving in their retina the contrasts that separate the wooded areas of the Andalusian Sierra del Segura from the vegetable garden of the Vega Baja and enjoying in between of natural spectacles like the flowering of the peach trees in Cieza.
