The improvements in the schools will capitalize the investments of the participatory budgets (13/01/2017)

Chosen by the citizens, for the value of 210,000 euros

The mayor, Inma Sánchez Roca, and the Councilor for Transparency and Participation, Victor Egío, accompanied by Isabel Cutillas, from Zaranda Investigación Social the company in charge of managing the process, announced and analyzed this morning at Casa Grande the results of the second budgets Of Santomera.

The process, which began last November and ended on December 18 with the last day of election, has been marked by the notable increase in citizen votes, which have grown 84%: of the 310 registered in the first edition , At 572 of the latter.

"The best news is the increase in participation," said the mayor.

"It tends to cost people getting involved with new initiatives like this, but I think they have internalized that it is working well, since we have fulfilled the mandate they gave us last year," he added before declaring that "it is very gratifying to empower the Neighbors to decide what model of municipality they want. "

Egío coincided with that reading and highlighted three other ideas: that it is a self-regulated process, that the neighborhood proposals have also grown from 61 to 110 and that "the City Council has also taken note of projects not chosen to try to execute in the future Those that are viable. "

As opposed to the 172,000 euros reserved in the pilot experience, these second participatory budgets will allow investments with an overall value of 210,000 euros.

That money will be distributed among the four population centers that make up the municipality, making sure that in each one of them the two projects with greater popular support are carried out.

Thus, in Santomera, locality to which they correspond 116,574 euros, will be improved both the air conditioning, on the one hand, and the shadow, on the other, of the educational centers of the municipality.

The second largest population available, El Siscar, has decided to invest its 33,509 euros to install new shaded areas in the Madre Esperanza school and to improve the accessibility of the walk that reaches Santomera through the road of Alicante.

In La Matanza, which has 31,608 euros, the passage between the two pavilions of the Campoazahar school will be covered and a shadow will be placed for the sports center of the same center.

Finally, the Azarbe Bank has chosen to invest its 28,309 in the construction of a sports court and to optimize the signage and accessibility of pedestrian crossings.
