Following the pilot experience carried out between May and June, Santomera City Council has already launched the second participatory budget of its history.
Until next November 26, the deadline for the presentation of the proposals to be held in Santomera, El Siscar, La Matanza and La Aquila Bank will remain open;
Between the 13th and 18th of December, on the other hand, the time will come for the votes to choose the winning projects.
For this second edition, the City Council has increased from 172,000 to 210,000 euros the item intended to run, during 2017, the projects endorsed by the initiative and popular vote.
Half of this money will be distributed equally among the four population centers, while the other half will be distributed according to its population size: thus, Santomera will receive 116,574 euros;
To El Siscar, 33,509;
To La Matanza, 31,608;
And to the Shore of the Azarbe, 28.309.
As already happened during the pilot experiment, in this new process it will be possible to intervene "any person who lives, works, participates or has interest in improving Santomera", without being necessary to be registered in the municipality.
That yes, as decided the motor group composed of technicians and volunteers who for weeks are working on this second edition, the minimum age of participation goes up from the fourteen to the sixteen years.
To encourage participation, the same body agreed that instead of four, seven assemblies will be held from last Thursday until next Saturday 26, at different times and places, as well as the installation of mailboxes in different parts of the municipality.
In addition to these two channels, interested people were able to register until yesterday their proposals through the web and email specifically created to channel information on participatory budgets.
After their presentation and debate, the proposals will be filtered in the assemblies to prioritize their interest for each zone, discarding those that do not reach 5% of the support.
The remaining projects will then be submitted to the feasibility examination of the technical committee - made up of neighbors, technical staff of the City Council, representatives of the Government team and members of the different political groups.
Those who surpass it will arrive at the final votes, in which they will be able to participate so much in telematic way, from the 13 to the 15 of December, as of face-to-face form, on Sunday 18.
Among the 61 projects presented during the pilot edition, the popular vote decided that during 2016, the construction of friendly roads, the conditioning of public spaces and the installation of defibrillators would be tackled.
Currently these projects are still under development: the bike-lane road is in the adjudication phase, while the conditioning of the sports court of La Matanza and the parties grounds of the Bank of Azarbe and El Siscar are already underway;
Lastly, the City Council has already acquired fourteen new defibrillators for Santomera, which is currently being completed with a dozen training courses on its management.
