Santomera City Council approved the regular plenary session in September, the realization of a project to eliminate urban barriers, improve accessibility and restore basic services in Victoria, Magdalena and Last streets.
The operating budget of the work amounts to 162,000 euros, of which 113,832 will come from Regional Action Plan to Increase Works and Municipal Services (PARDOS);
the remaining 48,168 almost 30% of the total, well above 5% necessary to qualify for the said plan will be provided by the municipal coffers.
The goal of is to revitalize a large area of ​​the old town of Santomera, located northwest of the district of la Mota, next to the school Our Lady of the Rosary.
The action includes the elimination of architectural barriers and asbestos-cement pipes present in the area as well as replacing the rush of drinking water that currently contain lead, improving the sewerage and modernization of lighting advance energy efficiency.
The area where this project will be done "is unequivocally in a very deficient state of infrastructure and services," said Councilman Works and Services, Joaquin Rubio.
"The facilities and utilities were executed in the seventies, so they accumulate almost fifty years, during which time they have not received any investment," added the mayor.
According to Rubio, "confront this action is necessary to build a more liveable, sustainable and friendly town" and to "ensure that all citizens enjoy the same facilities and utilities, thus avoiding Santomera first and one second".
