In June 1996, the regional government promised to build a residence in Santomera seniors.
The works began three years later, but the investment by the regional government repeatedly stalled until late 2006, when it was agreed that the Sergesa commercial finalize the draft in exchange for exploitation rights for forty years.
The financial problems that crossed the concessionaire, together with other circumstances, ended up causing the building has not been ready yet.
Santomera residence will have 114 permanent seats and 25 other rooms available in the day care center.
For the team of government headed by socialist Inma Sánchez Roca, "the main objective now is to get the Autonomous Community complies with its part and assume the concert public places to ensure that the building is at the service of everyone, regardless of ability economic ".
In fact, at the initiative of the PSOE, the municipal plenary and adopted unanimously on 21 April a motion calling for the concert by the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) of the 25 squares in the center of day and at least 65% of stays permanent.

"We knew that the neighbors were waiting with great interest right now, but we never thought there was such a huge expectation" point from the concessionaire.
"Some could not believe what they were seeing: after nearly two decades of waiting, finally able to enter the building and check that it is completely built and well equipped," adds the mayor of Santomera.
