The motion passed unanimously last January and presented by the Alternative group by Santomera, contemplates the creation of an early care center in the town.
The municipal platform alleges that Santomera is the only municipality in the Region with its population size (16,000 inhabitants) that does not have this stimulation service for children with special needs.
Maria José Campillo Meseguer, spokeswoman for Alternativa and former Councilor for Equality in the last legislature, presented the urgency of the motion adducing the immediate need to provide this service to the child population up to 6 years of Santomera, who currently need to move to other centers throughout the region and whose expenses are borne by families.
In the IES of the municipality, only in 1 and 2 ESO there are already more than 40 students with specific educational attention needs.
In addition, the claim for the creation of this service was included in the Universal Accessibility Table, Social Services and Educational Centers that was launched in 2018.
For the spokesman and Alderman for Alternativa for Santomera, Joaquín Rubio, the city council has sufficient economic capacity to start the early care center, either by carrying out a new work, or by conditioning newly renovated buildings such as the Casa del Huerto, inaugurated in 2019 .
The first step will be to formally request the number of families that are users of this service in the municipality, and the beginning of all the necessary actions for its financing and implementation with the collaboration of the Regional Administration.
