But what is the main purpose of the Spaniards for 2020?
According to a recent Study on 'The importance of English in 2020' by ABA English, learning a new language is the main purpose of this new year according to 25% of Spaniards, ahead of other wishes such as traveling more (18%) , live a healthier life (14%), spend more time with family and friends (12%), save money (10%) or change jobs (7%).
Behind, there are purposes such as learning a new skill (4%), making new friends (4%), volunteering (3%) and falling in love (1%), among others (2%).
2019, a year of suspense
And it is that 2019 has been a year in which the Spaniards confess to having worked to assimilate their desired level of English, but without achieving their proposed objectives.
Up to 62% of respondents acknowledge that they closed 2019 with a level of Intermediate English;
while 30% did so with a Beginner level, and only 8% with an Advanced level.
How did we try to learn English last year?
57% of Spaniards point out that they took an online English course to try to improve their English level during 2019. Behind, other ways of learning were found such as taking an offline English course (15%), traveling to a country English speaking (14%), doing a family exchange (2%) and working in an English speaking country (1%), among others (11%).
