The capacity of the temporary shelters has been increased during the emergency, reaching a current capacity of 898 seats.
The priority of the organization is currently focusing on supporting rescue and evacuation efforts, as well as providing emergency shelter support.
"These last 48 hours have been especially intense in the Red Cross. Since the weather forecasts pointed out that the passage of the DANA could feel strongly and affect the entire Region of Murcia, from the Red Cross we have been preparing, with the forecast of available emergency material and the coordination and pre-emergence of our teams, "said María José Vera, Regional Director of the Spanish Red Cross Emergency Unit in the Region of Murcia.
Finally, the forecasts have been fulfilled and the passage of the storm has greatly affected a large part of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
So far the Red Cross has installed a total of 898 temporary shelter places in the towns of Cieza, Molina de Segura, Lorqui, Alguazas, Beniel, Archena, Santomera, Cartagena, Los Nietos, Murcia and Los Alcázares.
More specifically, during this night, Provisional Shelter places have been enabled at the request of the municipalities of Murcia, Cieza, Lorquí, Alguazas, Beniel, Archena, Molina de Segura, Santomera.
In the town of Cartagena, Los Nietos and Los Alcázares the device was also mounted, late in the morning.

In this evacuation The Spanish Red Cross teams have collaborated by mobilizing 7 people transport vehicles and 2 Basic Life Support ambulances in the evacuation device of the entire population.
All the lodged people have clothes, blankets, grooming kits and their food is assured, taking care of factors such as the age of the victims (special care and care with babies, young children and the elderly) The Carrefour Agreement has been activated to ensure the supplies for 400 people in the next few hours and the agreement with Disfrimur to ensure the logistics that all this deployment requires.
Together with the work of the provisional shelter, the emergency teams of the Spanish Red Cross have carried out beatings by various municipalities to support the rescue and evacuation and transfer of people from their homes, and the provision of food, water and clothing.
The Red Cross currently has the help of about 150 volunteers and emergency specialists, intervening in the different scenarios.

The Red Cross has activated all its Immediate Emergency Response Teams (ERIE) of the Provisional Shelter for the attention and continued rotation of the work carried out in the different shelters.
