The mayor, Inma Sánchez Roca, and the Councilor for Finance, Paloma Cánovas, this morning held a meeting with representatives of the Regional Cadastral Management and opposition groups to report on the status of the cadastral review that is taking place out in the municipality and has already reached its final stretch.
The meeting has served to highlight the results of the new presentation of values, "without intermediaries and without political or partisan overtones, with absolute transparency," said the councilor.
The ultimate goal is for this cadastral review to take effect "whenever we adjust the tax rate to the new reality, seeking that the IBI, the receipt of the 'contribution', be fairer".
The mayor has also advanced that "we will incorporate a new drop in the receipt which, added to the new cadastral value, would make it easier for many families to benefit from scholarships, social assistance or patrimonial tax benefits."
"We hope to be able to count on the support of the opposition groups, otherwise the cadastral review will decline, and with it, the benefits for the families of our municipality," concluded Sánchez Roca.
Third decline in four years
The calculation of the IBI receipts is based on two elements: the tax rate and the cadastral value.
Directly, the consistories have the ability to adjust their amount by modifying the tax rate in their tax ordinances, and the City of Santomera has already reduced it twice in less than four years, allowing the receipts to be currently 10 % lower than in 2015. At the same time, the municipal government team requested in 2017 the cadastral review that is about to conclude, "in order to adapt the price of the value of our land and housing to the current reality", has indicated the mayor.
