Last night took place in the cultural center Casa Grande the presentation of the Festival of Moors and Christians, which this year celebrate its XLI edition, as well as the second edition of its magazine, 'Arcabuz'.
The mayor, Inmaculada Sánchez Roca, the councilman of Fiestas, Javier Campillo, and the president of the Central Board of Moors and Christians of Santomera, Pedro Asensio, were in charge of giving the kick-off to these celebrations, declared of regional tourist interest .
The events included in the program begin tonight, will last until June 30 and will have their main stage in the camp located in the parking deterrent of the street of Glory.
There will be installed the four festive groups Moros Almorávides, Caballeros y Damas del Ampurdán, Smugglers of the Mediterranean and Yonud, Children of the Desert and will develop lunches and dinners, concerts, children's activities or dance exhibitions open to the participation of any interested person , without it being necessary to belong to any of the comparsas.
The highlight will be next Saturday 29, starting at 9:30 p.m., when the grand parade will begin.
The entrance will vary significantly its first half of the route: as a result of the remodeling works of the Gloria Street, it will depart from the Plaza de la Coronación to pass along the avenue de la Mota and the streets of La Mina and Montesinos, before face the avenue Juan Carlos I and continue, as up to now, for Calvario and Octavio Carpena Artés.
Another of the new features is the introduction of the captaincy, an honorary position that will rotate among the four troupes and that will have a special role throughout the year.
Lucrecia Acosta Soto, of the Yonud the youngest group, with only two years of life, has been the person chosen to play that role for the first time.
