Twelve gardens, 57 new playgrounds and 250,000 euros of total investment.
These are the figures for the renovation of the public parks of the municipality, which the City Council of Santomera has already put in place and which is one of the main projects budgeted this year by the consistory.
According to the forecasts of the Department of Works and Services, the initial work will continue for about a month and a half.
In its first phase, for an amount of 176,000 euros, will include the complete replacement of children's games located in the gardens of Manuel Azaña, Palmeras, Yesera, Todi and the Cultural Center of La Matanza, as well as in the squares of the Ceramics, in El Siscar, El Corralón, Salud y el Vivero.
According to the mayor Joaquín Rubio, the project will be completed with an additional 70,000 euros that will be used to act on three other parks: those of Euterpe, Nueva Santomera and Tío Pepe el Ireno.
"Some of the games that we are renovating now were about twenty years old and their replacement, as well as being necessary, was very demanded by the citizens," explains Rubio.
The council adds that the action includes the creation of "two parks of natural theme and treatment of surfaces without chemicals, for parents and mothers sensitive to this issue", as well as the installation of five large games in the most frequented places, such as the park of Manuel Azaña or the squares of the Health and the Corralón.
