The Exhibition Space Plan offers two new exhibitions in Jumilla and Santomera (23/11/2018)

The Exhibition Space Plan launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture adds two new exhibitions that open their doors in Jumilla and Santomera and in which their works will show the artists of the Region of Murcia Belén Orta and Gelen Ortín.

'History of a memory', which opens today (8:00 pm) at the Jerónimo Molina de Jumilla Municipal Museum, is the proposal of the Belén Orta Cartagena.

An exhibition based on books and memory that can be visited until December 31, from Tuesday to Sunday.

For this project, Orta recovers some of the books that she inherited from her mother, an inveterate reader who, according to the artist, got up early to earn some time a day and to read works that, when she finished them, she scored up to ten.

With the aim of giving them a new life, so that they are not forgotten in a bookcase, she has rescued some of them to create the sculptures she shows in this exhibition in which the artist unites her life and her work, her memory and her legacy.

The other shows that today is inaugurated, at 20:30 hours in Santomera, is 'Motherhood that transforms', Gelén Ortín, which can be visited until December 16 in the Casa Grande Exhibition Hall of Murcia (from Monday to Saturday).

In this exhibition, the creator ciezana presents a new facet of her work focused on illustration and for which she adopts the pseudonym of 'Mama Confetti';

a project that transforms big and heavy media into lighter formats and that was born with her first daughter.

In it, and under the name of 'Maternity that transforms', it reflects the sometimes difficult path of motherhood, the brutal and unexpected transformations that come with it, and of which no one is alert.

The work of Gelen Ortín has always been focused on the portrait and in this new exhibition the human figure continues to be the protagonist, although the face has ceased to be the only communicating element and also adds to its illustrations texts that help it to transmit in a way more powerful and direct his vision on motherhood and his desire to create a more free and egalitarian society.

The new samples of Jumilla and Santomera are two of the 56 that are being inaugurated throughout this year 2018 in some thirty municipalities within the Exhibition Space Plan launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in order to give greater visibility to the work done by the creators of the Region of Murcia.

A total of 70 artists have been selected for the second edition of this project, which also continues to work with municipalities to set up a broader quality cultural program that brings art closer to all kinds of audiences.
