The socialist regional deputy Emilio Ivars has been satisfied by the approval of a motion proposed by the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Commission of Territorial Policy of the Regional Assembly, for the incorporation of a bus stop in the Reina Sofia hospital on line 36 , the one that joins Santomera with Murcia.
"In this way, we avoid the discrimination suffered by the residents of Santomera and some districts of Murcia, in which they do not have direct access to their reference hospital, which is the Reina Sofía." They are the only neighbors in this area of health that do not have direct access, "he said.
According to Ivars, this initiative also eliminates the added effort it entails for the citizens of these towns, having to travel a series of kilometers to reach the hospital or make an unnecessary transfer at the bus station to retrace the path traveled .
"Even some families have to travel to Alquerías to take a direct bus to Reina Sofia."
In his opinion, it is an absolutely necessary measure to contribute to social and sustainable mobility in the Region of Murcia, something that is essential.
"Public transport has to connect public services for citizens with their residential area."
For its part, the mayor of Santomera, Inma Sanchez Roca, recalled that from this council have spent three years working to get a bus to connect the public transport of this municipality with its reference hospital, the Queen Sofia.
"On innumerable occasions and with the innumerable councilors of Development and Directors General that we have had in these three years, due to the institutional instability of the regional government, I have requested it without obtaining results, even in a meeting in the Federation of Municipalities, in the that we were presented with the transportation master plan, it was requested that this criterion be taken into account so that transportation could reach public hospitals ", he commented.
"But instead of working, the Director General of Transport is more engaged in tweeting, so that, through the Socialist Parliamentary Group, we present this motion in the Regional Assembly to stage a problem that, in addition to Santomera, also affects to four districts of Murcia, "he added.
According to Inma Sánchez, in this way, the results that citizens deserve by making a sustainable lifestyle or by going to public services, "which is to have them at your fingertips and not walk 2 kilometers to reach your public hospital, will be obtained. reference".
Finally, he criticized that the regional government is not fulfilling the requests of the municipalities on something as basic and common sense as public transport of municipalities to reach the public services of reference.
