Santomera will count from this next course with a municipal service of dining room for the students of Compulsory Secondary Education.
The measure, promoted by the Department of Education, seeks to improve the reconciliation of work, personal and family life of the citizenship of the municipality, as well as helping families to enrich and control the feeding of their children at adolescent age.
This new service will be provided daily, from Monday to Friday, from October 1 and until June 24, 2019, provided that a minimum of ten people are registered.
The meals will be served in the school dining hall that the City Council of Santomera built last year at the CEIP Ricardo Campillo, from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, once the shift for the children and schoolchildren has finished.
In this way, "94% of our students will have access to school canteens, a service that will also improve with the introduction of organic food in the daily menus of nursery schools," maintains the Councilor for Education, María José Medina.
The students of the institutes of the municipality interested in being a user of the high school canteen must present their request to the secretariat of their center or in Casa Grande in the office of the Department of Education, in the morning between September 3 and 19 .
In case that the 25 available places are covered, the requests of those who have already been using the cafeteria service in primary school will be prioritized, of those who have both parents working and of those who claim it with greater assiduity;
on the other hand, the students of the earliest courses will also be given priority, so that more points will be awarded to the 1st of ESO than to the 2nd, and so on.
Other improvements
The implementation of this service joins other initiatives undertaken by the City to get, in the words of Medina, the facilities of our public centers are "better than ever."
"For the first time we will start the course with large areas of shade in all public schools for children and primary school and with 80% of our air-conditioned classrooms, thanks to investments made with exclusively municipal funds," he maintains.
In this same chapter of infrastructures, the councilor also highlights the arrangement of the access ramps to the Rainbow EIM, the creation of a new unit for the special education teachers of the CEIP Campoazahar, the arrangement of the sports track of the CEIP Nuestra Señora del Rosario or the enclosure of the porch of the CEIP Madre Esperanza to gain reinforcement and support spaces the latter works carried out by the Ministry.
Regarding educational programs "we will continue working within the program of educational reinforcement, school mediation, learning first aid from the first levels of primary school, the development of emotional education, education in equality and affective-sexual, the road education and the promotion of a healthy leisure, putting the sports facilities of educational centers available to the population outside of school hours and offering all kinds of recreational activities for adolescents ", lists the Education edila.
In addition, through the initiative 'Santomera, educating city', "we will take the campaign 'Santomera es tu casa, cuídala' to schools, and we will start working on Children's Rights Week for November and the second Full child and youth of our municipality.
