A network of collectors avoid flooding in the town of El Siscar in Santomera (06/05/2014)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of Santomera, José María Sánchez, today inaugurated the construction of the drainage network in the hamlet of El Siscar that collect rainwater and prevent flooding in the town.

The new network of collectors, 940 meters long, replaces the previous one, which was outdated and insufficient to meet the demands of the population in the urban area of ​​this district.

The works involved the construction of several collectors to optimize the capacity of water drainage and rain in this town, with a main sanitation collector that connects with the existing main sewage running through the streets of Zaraiche Acequia.

In addition, there has been renewed system stormwater drainage scuppers with the installation of street affected by collectors designed and adjacent.

The Minister of Agriculture and Water stated that this action "perfect storm drainage and fixes an issue that caused great discomfort to the residents of the area when storms occurred."

Cerda said that "although these works are underground, represent a contribution that benefits the public service."

This initiative has received an investment of 265.740 euros, financed 80 percent by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has made in the town in recent years Santomera other works of sanitation and treatment, with an investment of three million, among which are collectors southeast of the town, the Barrio de la Mota and the expansion of the North purification and removal of the old plant.
