The first family benefited by a social rent access their new home (17/11/2017)

The 'Vivir Santomera' program, the information and counseling service on housing for people at risk of social exclusion launched by the City Council last July, has begun to bear fruit.

This morning the first social rental contract was signed in our municipality, which, at a lower price than the market, has provided its new home to a vulnerable family with two daughters of school age in their care.

The Councilor for Social Rights and Migration, Alicia Poza, and the Rasinet Federation technique responsible for the management of this service, Marian XXXX, accompanied the beneficiary family this morning during the signing of the contract and the handover of the keys.

The event was held at the local office of Banco Sabadell, the parent company of Solvia, owner of the property, whose director Poza thanked him for his "willingness to collaborate with us and help us resolve the dramatic situation of families who can not access a decent home. "

The process began in April of this year, when the Councilor for Social Rights initiated a round of contact with all the banking entities located in our municipality.

During those meetings, Poza was interested in knowing the catalog of houses that the banks had available for social rent and informed them of the City Council's intention to mediate so that families in a vulnerable situation could access them.

As he recalled, the response from the entities was very different: "Some offered to collaborate but they told us that at that time they did not have rental housing, while others did not show any interest. Sabadell, through Solvia, has provided us with a house to rent, which today has begun to inhabit this family. "

"I hope that after this good news other entities will join the cause," added the councilor, who recalled that "we value the disposition of each of them, the City will take into account when you have to perform a financial operation."

The rental agreement has a duration of one year, renewable and revisable according to the economic and social conditions that the beneficiary family goes through.

Besides mediating the contact between both parties, the City Council, thanks to the altruism of certain people, has also collaborated in the equipment of the property so that "it has everything necessary so that these people can live in decent conditions."
