City Council and CEOM will collaborate to detect physical and cognitive barriers (09/11/2016)

The Town Council of Santomera, through the Department of Equality, makes effective the decision of the Local Accessibility Table for the CEOM association to perform the diagnosis to detect physical and cognitive barriers in municipal public centers and services, as well as in the main Vials.

Technicians and people with intellectual disabilities of the association integrated in Full Inclusion will evaluate the difficulties encountered by citizens when using the municipal resources of Santomera City Council or when passing through the main streets of the municipality.

The consistory, following the technical report, has selected this non-profit-making NGO to carry out a detailed diagnosis of the accessibility of roads and buildings, both from the physical point of view with architectural barriers and steps as cognitive with cognitive barriers as the Absence of signaling.

The goal is to move towards universal accessibility that makes Santomera a friendly environment for all people, regardless of their possible disabilities and individual situations.

The contract for which the City Council entrusts this task was presented this morning in the Casa Grande cultural center with the participation of the mayor, Inmaculada Sánchez Roca, the Councilor for Equality, María José Campillo, and the president of CEOM, José Nicolás .

The contract, won the public tender, establishes both the cross-cutting approach to universal accessibility and the effective participation of people with disabilities who assess the environments in a first-person perspective from a didactic perspective for the people who will have to design and execute the future Integral Plan of Municipal Accessibility.

This diagnosis is expected to take place before the end of the year and a report showing weaknesses and strengths in this area, as well as proposals for improvement.

This initiative comes from the Local Table for Universal Accessibility that the City Council established in April to develop a Universal Plan for Universal Accessibility to ensure that "persons with disabilities can live independently and fully participate in all aspects of the Life ", as established by the UN in the Declaration on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

In this project of realizing human rights and common goods, the Council has also initiated the First Feminist Plan for Equal Opportunities.
