To tender, for 1.2 million euros, the remodeling of the heated pool (11/07/2019)

The project includes the change of roof, the modernization of the heating system and the installation of photovoltaic panels

The heated pool is closer to reopening its doors.

If the expected deadlines are met, it will do so in 2021, ten years after it was closed as such, going on to serve only during the summer periods.

The last step to achieve this has occurred this afternoon, when the Governing Board has approved the technical and administrative specifications of some works that will improve both the energy efficiency and the economic and environmental sustainability of the installation.

Tomorrow, Friday July 12, its bidding will be announced, and interested companies may submit their bids for execution from this Saturday until August 30.

The tender budget amounts to a total of 1,259,262.38 euros (VAT included), but is divided into two lots.

The largest, worth 1,012,824.18 euros, consists of replacing the thermal envelope, changing the current roof system, with wooden skeleton and canvas, on the other based on polycarbonate plates that open and close quickly on rails in a motorized way.

The new materials will avoid thermal leaks and at the same time capture solar heat, as a greenhouse, which will reduce energy consumption by around 10%.

For its part, the second batch, budgeted at 246,438.21 euros, includes two different actions.

In the first place, the modernization of the heating system by means of a biomass boiler, more efficient and with lower CO2 emissions than the gas installed originally in 2005, which will remain as a support for a possible breakdown.

And, secondly, the installation of a photovoltaic plant with 30 kilowatts of power that will take advantage of solar radiation to generate clean and free 18% of the electric energy consumed in the entire sports arena.

Division of the vessel

The three actions already mentioned will be preceded by a fourth intervention.

It is the restructuring and division in two of the main vessel, which currently has a length of 49 meters.

Thus, two different spaces will result: one for recreational use, in the part of less draft, and another for sporting purposes, of 25 meters in length, respecting the necessary regulatory measures for official swimming competitions in a short pool.

As added advantages, this remodeling will result in energy savings, by means of a slight reduction of the draft in the deepest zones, and will facilitate a more versatile use of the installation.

The intention of the government team is that the execution of this last project is carried out during the first quarter of next year.

Subsequently, the interventions on the roof and the boiler would be carried out, as well as the installation of the photovoltaic plant, whose works would last around six months.

The sum of all these actions will allow the reopening of the heated Municipal Pool, closed in 2011, a point that the PSOE contemplated in its electoral program.

European subsidy

For the execution of these works, the City of Santomera has a grant of 793,760 euros granted by the European Union through the operational program Feder of sustainable growth.

Thanks to the same line, the consistory has also received 1,221,233 euros that will be allocated to renovation with LED technology of 2,503 street lamps, half of those installed in the municipality.
